Usage
The first step is to locate an acceptable Mineral Deposit in the first place, using Mineral Survey Tools or a Core Sample Drill. There are a number of possible deposit types (detailed in the Mineral Deposit article).
The machine needs to be assembled in two parts: the Bucket Wheel and the Engine. The Bucket Wheel needs to be completely inside the chunk where the Mineral Deposit is.
The machine accepts up to 4096 Flux/tick. While a single HV Connector is all that’s needed for full power, having multiple power plugs means the machine can accept up to 3072 Flux/tick from a medium-voltage energy-net, if needed.
Once any of the machine’s plugs has power, the Bucket Wheel will begin to turn and mine. The Excavator may break a few blocks underneath it when it starts up, but once it has some space will not break anything else. All blocks are broken as if they were mined with Silk Touch.
Optimization
At 4096 Flux/tick, the only generator up to the task of running it full-time is the Diesel Generator.
A fully powered Excavator can mine up to one ore every 3 seconds. If ores are being crushed right away, two Crushers can keep up with a full-speed Excavator. The yield rate falls off over time, but the operation can continue for 144 (Minecraft) days, mining a total of 57,600 ore blocks per deposit.
Interfaces
The Excavator has no GUI. Instead, it interfaces with the world directly.
The machine accepts power through the three black plugs opposite the Bucket Wheel. Power can be in the form of Immersive Flux or Redstone Flux.
Mining halts when the control panel receives a Redstone signal. The control panel is the block on the left-middle spot of the right side.
Mined items fall out of the hatch opposite the Bucket Wheel. They can land directly inside an adjacent inventory, like a Storage Crate or a Conveyor Belt.
Assembly
The Excavator needs to be assembled in two parts. The Bucket Wheel is the center part, and it’s completed by using an Engineer’s Hammer on the central Block of Steel. The «Engine» is the other part, and it’s completed by using an Engineer’s Hammer on the Heavy Engineering Block in the center of the back side.
Bill of materials
The Excavator requires:
There are a minimum of 175 Steel Ingots used in this recipe.

Immersive Engineering/

Immersive Engineering/

Immersive Engineering is a mod created by BluSunrize and Mr_Hazard. It adds new Forge Energy (FE)–based machinery with a retro-futuristic feeling to the game. It features many multiblock machines, with energy components that look and feel like an AC electrical network.
Immersive Engineering’s unit of Forge Energy is Immersive Flux (IF), which integrates seamlessly with Redstone Flux–based power systems, exchanging IF for RF at a 1:1 ratio.
Prior to version 1.8, Immersive Engineering used RF as a unit, and equipment also worked with IndustrialCraft 2’s power system of Energy Units (EU).

The Diesel Generator is a 3×5×3 multiblock added by Immersive Engineering. It generates Immersive Flux (IF) or Redstone Flux (RF) by burning Biodiesel or other modded fuels.
A running Diesel Generator makes a fair amount of noise. The Ear Defenders can selectively muffle its sound.
The Diesel Generator does not have a GUI. Fuel needs to be piped in through the side ports near the front of the machine (indicated by blue dots). Power is exported through the three plugs on top, near the front of the machine (each with a small copper-colored dot). The generator can be halted by applying a Redstone signal to the «control panel» on the side of the machine (indicated by a red dot).
Содержание
Usage
The multiblock machine needs to be properly assembled, struck with an Engineer’s Hammer, and wired up to an energy-net with Wire Connectors before it’s ready to start generating. Piping any amount of fuel in through its fluid ports starts it producing energy at a rate of 4096 Flux/tick (or less if the energy-net can’t accept that much).
The standard fuel is Biodiesel, but the Diesel Generator can accept a few other modded fuels, which burn for longer and produce more total energy.
The machine automatically shuts off if it cannot export power. It does not have an internal energy buffer.
Fuel choices
1 bucket of Biodiesel burns for 6.25 seconds, generating a total of 512,000 Flux. The table below compares it to other modded fuels.
Fuel | Duration (sec) | Energy per bucket (Flux) | Energy in |
---|---|---|---|
Biodiesel | 6.25 | 512,000 | 12,288,000 |
Diesel (Immersive Petroleum) | 9.9 | 812,200 | 19,492,800 |
Fuel (Buildcraft) | 8.75 | 1,536,000 | 36,912,000 |
Optimization
For the Diesel Generator to continually run on Biodiesel, it needs 160 mB/sec. For an efficient supply chain, 1 Refinery, 2 Industrial Squeezers and 2 Industrial Fermenters is enough to support 2 Diesel Generators. To keep up with demand, the Industrial Squeezer would need 1 Wheat seed, Pumpkin seed or Melon seed every second, or 2 Industrial Hemp Seeds every 3 seconds; the Fermenter would need 1 Sugar Cane, Melon or Apple every second.
